"Newsies" at LifeHouse Theatre

For our July event, Queen Carol N invited us to see "Newsies" at the LifeHouse Theater in Redlands. LifeHouse always does an excellent job with their productions, and always puts a Christian spin on the story. "Newsies" was no exception.

Here's a brief synopsis of the story . . .

The story takes place in 1899 in New York City. Jack and his ragtag team of newsboys make a meager living selling newspapers on the city streets.  But when the price of papers is hiked and the newsies are hung out to dry, there is nothing left to do but band together.  Led by charismatic Jack and independent, young newspaper reporter Katherine, the Newsies form a union and organize a strike against the greedy publishers.  Can a group of idealistic newsboys win against a foe as powerful as acclaimed publisher Joseph Pulitzer? The story takes the Newsies on a journey of self-discovery as they learn true biblical values of friendship, loyalty, and the transformative power of unity and community. And along the way we are treated to stirring songs and dynamic dance numbers. So much fun!
